The course was officially opened in September 1975 by the then Minister for sport-The Rt. Hon. Dennis Howell MP.
The 18 hole mature parkland course is a Par 73 and 6488 yards in length. The course is popular with both experienced golfers and beginners alike. It also hosts a number of ProAm and national junior and senior external tournaments.
The surrounding countryside and views across four counties makes it one of the most attractive in the Midlands.
Tamworth Golf Club was formed in 1975 and has a formal constitution and rules. The committee are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting which is held in February each year.
The Club committee consist of Club Captain , Vice Captain, Club Treasurer, Club secretary and six other committee members including the Ladies Captain plus The honorary President .
There are men’s and ladies competitions every week, including monthly Medal, Bogie and Stableford rounds. There are also additional major competitions which are played throughout the season
New members are invited to attend a Familiarisation Meeting which is held at 7.00pm on the first Monday of every month and lasts for approximately half an hour. If these meetings clash with Bank Holidays they are held on the second Monday of the month.
The Club season starts on 1st March each year, culminating with the Annual Presentation Dinner during the following February, where all winners of competitions throughout the year are presented with their prizes and trophies.
